moscoman arrived at the esp institute last year with a fistful of killer tracks and an imitable recipe for hummous, since then we�ve seen his debut with the dancefloor bomb akachi and a collaborative follow-up release with long-time cohorts red axes. we�re now excited to enter a new chapter with moscoman�s debut full-length album a shot in the light. this creative outpouring spans years of musical trials and tribulations, finally coming full circle to tell the story of an artist leaving his home in tel aviv to pursue his passions in the electronic mecca of berlin and beyond. moscomans unique approach evolves and devolves over the course of eight songs, enduring highs and lows yet never resting for too long in one place, thus illustrating his personal metamorphosis as well as his acute skill of giving many voices to one wild imagination. mexican cola bottle baby is our lead single, an optimistic dancefloor-filler that rides a disco rhythm, full of odd-ball percussion, over a swollen house bassline as we�re lead through clusters of synthesized mating calls via infectious melodic whistling. if there is a tune that sums up our idea of summer, bright as a cloudless day yet thick as a tropical heat, and is as wacky as we are here, then this is it.

a negative hallucination is an idea that was first put forward by sigmund freud in 1890. he used the term to describe how a hypnotised person could be led to be unable to see a person or thing that was right in front of them once out of the hypnotised state, creating a gap in their reality. sadly, this gap in reality seems endemic in the minds of many in the world, whether from lack of access to facts or from wilful ignorance. the result is the same regardless: a world where many oppressed peoples reality is edited out of the conversation. noleian reusse (half of africans with mainframes) and thomas cox (one third of pittsburgh track authority) got together in the studio in pittsburgh during a week of extreme social unrest in the usa in late 2015, resulting in these recordings. the tracks are crafted with a stripped back electronic funk and a stark, relentless feel that reflects the energy in the air at the time. as long time fans of politically and socially charged music like public enemy, underground resistance, nwa, dopplereffekt, and gil scott-heron, noleian and thomas have taken these influences and mixed them with their own styles to come up with a modern dancefloor version of those ideals. lead track solidarity fills the whole a side with its optimism. soulful melodies and strings conquer the driving rhythms, bringing a sense that through sticking together, a better future is possible. the b side s perspective is darker. police state is a crazy raved out banger that combines gritty acid and harsh tones that channel the day-to-day existence for far too many urban people. the third and final cut, surveillance, is a paranoid, spacey techno track that would be ideal as a soundtrack for closed-circuit television video reels. this snapshot of urban life is tied together through artwork by andrew burger, whose mix of throwback style and current ideas nails the dystopian existence that is now reality as predicted so long ago by orwell, huxley, lucas, and many more.

the soul behind these recordings is rama dyushambee. not only a vocalist, mr. dyushambee also plays tenor saxophone too. he even produced, composed and arranged the entire album. the music on here is hard to categorize. the basic feel of the songs is jazz, but you also find a portion of funk and lots of spirituality in them too. if you like your jazz funky - check out this album. if you like your funk jazzy - check out this album. generally, if you like music with soul then you can t go wrong with orbit in space.

saft welcomes nortasun to it s expanding roster of artists. with not too much info being available about the artist, the music should do the talking. nortasun comes up with a sample drenched ep that consists out of swell basslines, mind expanding chords and outlandish percussion works. untitled 1 opens up with a carefully placed disco sample that hovers over the rhythms very nicely. the percussion section and the ascending chords serve the overal ambiance while nortasun plays with the extended loop pattern that maintains of interest. untitled 2 serves as a very deep but functional voyage into tribal territory. a vary of percussion sets in and smartly exchanges tones with fx cuts. on the b side fudge fingas debuts on saft with an atmospheric beast of a remix for untitled 1 that constantly grows and cleverly uses vocal cuts that change up the original atmosphere and makes the overall a very broad work of house music. the stevie wonder like clava hit + piano solo s that come in when the remix progresses are all in courtesy of the edinburghian producer himself.

not too long ago a jiffy bag arrived at parkwest hq. in it was a scratched tdk case with a sa-x tape containing a musical message from years past, simply marked the tape i lost! we sat and listened, able to pinpoint influence and reference but yet hearing something totally new. that this tape surfaced and made it across the years and the miles to us was fortunate. when the synth part came through clear on a later version on the tape, allowing us to remix then it became destiny. emotion, melody and rhythm will always be timeless and these tracks, selected from that tape, are as relevant today as they ever were.

great debut release and new label from a rubadub shop regular featuring tracks from shop regulars. tip. this first release is made up of 3 tracks from my friends and 1 from myself. there�s no concept here other than putting out music that was otherwise not going to see the light of day. the first track is by bleaker who put out a 12inch on unknown to the unknown last year, the second by miz aka big miz whos been putting out music on dixon avenue basement jams, the third by the burrell connection who has a release on west end communications and a track on a craig knows released compilation and the last track is from myself which got a play on big mizs boiler room set. these tracks were all sent to me around the same time and it felt right to make a place for them on a record. bleaker, miz and the burrell connection have all been making waves in scotland and beyond and these 3 tracks are proof that the attention is warranted. and i dont think my track is too bad either.
